The Canadian stamp design was a project I really enjoyed working on, because it had roots to my favorite animal and one of my favorite memories. This particular design was inspired by a photograph, and a trip to Vancouver, that I had taken several years ago. I didn’t have a professional camera at the time but I did manage to catch the tail end of a whale breaking the surface, which inspired this design. I wanted it to look more representational then realistic. I created the whale by outlining an image I found online with the pen tool and then created some of the background using the gradient tool in Adobe Illustrator. I also went to the Canada Post website and uploaded my design to print on real stamps to showcase at the Bourne Identity art show.
